Cusco Peru Cusco

"The Archaeological Capital of America", was the capital of the legendary Inca Empire, the most striking is the superposition of Cusco and syncretism of three cultures: the native Quechua Indian, the Spanish Colonial and Modern. The Plaza de Armas of Cusco, known in Inca times as Wakaypata, was the site of many celebrations and still is an ideal meeting place for today's celebrations. The Cathedral of Cusco and the Company, two of the most important colonial churches in Cusco, frame this square. Other colonial churches should not fail to visit are: Santo Domingo (built on Inca Koricancha "The Land of Gold"), the Convent of Santa Catalina (site of the Inca Acllawasi residence of the chosen women) and San Blas with his famous pulpit, in the neighborhood of artists.
