Detailed itinerary

Day 1 Day 1: Cusco – Pacchanta – Upis Camp

Your Ausangate Trek begins early in the morning with pickup from your hotel in Cusco around 4:30 AM. After a scenic 3-hour drive, you will arrive at Pacchanta, a traditional Andean community located at 4,340 meters. Here you will meet your trekking team and enjoy breakfast before starting the hike. The trail begins with a gradual ascent through high-altitude plains surrounded by impressive mountain views. After approximately 3 hours of hiking, you will reach Upis Camp, located at the base of Ausangate Mountain. In the afternoon, you can take a short hike to nearby lagoons for acclimatization and photography. Overnight at campsite.

Day 2 Day 2: Upis – Arapa Pass – Pucacocha Camp

After breakfast, begin your ascent toward Arapa Pass at 4,750 meters. This section offers incredible views of valleys, glaciers, and snow-capped peaks. After reaching the pass, descend toward Yanacocha (Black Lake), a place of cultural significance for local communities. Continue hiking to Pucacocha, passing beautiful high-altitude lagoons. Arrive at your campsite surrounded by stunning mountain scenery and enjoy dinner.

Day 3 Day 3: Pucacocha – Palomani Pass – Inkawasi Camp

This is the most challenging day of the Ausangate Trek. After an early breakfast, begin the ascent to Palomani Pass at 5,115 meters, the highest point of the trek. From the top, enjoy spectacular panoramic views of glaciers and surrounding peaks. After taking time to rest and take photos, descend through valleys where alpacas and vicuΓ±as can be seen grazing. Arrive at Inkawasi Camp, located in a beautiful valley with views of Ausangate.

Day 4 Day 4: Inkawasi – Jampa Pass – Azulcocha Camp

Today you will hike through the Huchuy Phinaya valley, surrounded by dramatic Andean landscapes. Begin a gradual ascent to Jampa Pass at over 5,000 meters, offering incredible views of the Ausangate region and surrounding lakes. After crossing the pass, descend toward Azulcocha Lake, where you will set up your final campsite. Enjoy the peaceful environment and stunning scenery.

Day 5 Day 5: Azulcocha – Pacchanta – Cusco

On the final day, descend back to Pacchanta, passing through traditional grazing lands. Upon arrival, you will have time to relax in the hot springs and interact with local families. After lunch, return by private transportation to Cusco, arriving in the afternoon and completing your Ausangate Trek experience.
