Detailed itinerary

Day 1 Day 1: Cusco – Soraypampa – Humantay Lake

Early departure from Cusco to Soraypampa (3,900 m). Optional hike to Humantay Lake (4,200 m). Overnight in camp or domes. Moderate difficulty due to altitude.

Day 2 Day 2: Salkantay Pass – Chaullay

The most challenging day. Trek to Salkantay Pass (4,650 m) with breathtaking glacier views, then descend into the cloud forest to Chaullay. Long hiking day with altitude changes.

Day 3 Day 3: Chaullay – La Playa

Trek through tropical landscapes and coffee plantations. Warmer climate and easier hiking compared to previous day.

Day 4 Day 4: La Playa – Hidroelectrica – Aguas Calientes

Hike to Hydroelectric and continue along the railway to Aguas Calientes. Optional train available. Overnight in hotel.

Day 5 Day 5: Machu Picchu – Return to Cusco

Guided tour of Machu Picchu. Optional Huayna Picchu hike. Return by train and transfer to Cusco.
